A day dedicated to the practical aspects of casting and directing. Actors and directors will have the opportunity to work with experienced directors, casting directors and agents on the whole process of putting together a

​play, and the various different avenues of work available in the industry.



 

The Day:

 

  • 10 am Bootcamp hour : Your C.V, showreel, spotlight etc links .
    Talk about various levels of work, paid, low paid and unpaid and the pros and cons. Finding agents, changing agents, photos. This will be led by a leading West End agent Lesley Duff and Yvonne I'Anson general manager of Associated Studios.  
    All participants should be sure to bring their C.V's Photos and any other promotional material.

  • This will be followed by the director Joe Harmston and the casting director Kate ​Plantin working with you on auditions. How to conduct them, what is expected​ ​of everyone in the room, the auditionee and the auditioner. Preparation etiquette  etc.

  • 1:30pm - 2:30pm The lunchtime showcase is a work in progress performance of "Bound"  by Tina Jay. This monolgue has been inspired by her earlier work Dog City which was recently performed at the Lost Theatre.



  • 2:30pm - 5pm In the afternoon we will have a directing workshop led by DAVID GRINDLEY to be announced shortly, this will involve both actors and directors. 

  • 5:30pm - 6:30pm The evening showcase is a double Bill of a new monlogue "Hidden" by Gary Thomas, and "Going Back" a short play by Carol Allen and Chrissie Fraser.

 



Joe Harmston

Joe has been a professional theatre director since 1993. He has directed over 80 plays in the U.K , the U.S.A and Europe. he is currently reviving his production of a new musical he cowrote and directed called "The Prodigals" at the Belgrade Coventry



Kate Plantin

Kate has cast over 60 films and television series and numerous theatre productions. Recent theatre includes The Father, The Handyman, currently casting Kindertransport. Recent films The Timber, Outpost: Rise of the Spetsnaz and Gone too Far 



Paul Clayton

Paul is the current chairman of The Actors Centre. He has enjoyed a long career in theatre, T.V and film. He is probably most recognised from his appearances in Peep Show and Coronation street.

Lesley Duff

After a long and successful carerr as an Actress moved across into agenting. having worked with several top London agents she formed a partnership with Jean Diamond , and together they run the highly respected agency Diamond Management.

 

David Grindley

David has had a very distinguished career including most recently Daytona at The Park Theatre, An American plan at St James Theatre and Our Boys at the Duchess. He has directed in London and on Broadway.

 



 Yvonne I'Anson

Yvonne began her career as an agent with Peter Browne management, she then went on to be the Head of Marketing at Mountview Academy. She is now the general manager of Associated Studios which is based at the riverside Studios.
